As a part of G Suite Business and Enterprise editions, Vault allows you to archive corporate data from G Suite products including, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Teams Drive, Google Groups, and Google Hangouts Meet.

Google Vault lets you retain, hold, search, and export data to support your organization’s archiving and eDiscovery needs.
Set retention rules to control how long data is retained before being removed from user accounts and deleted from Google systems.
- Keep data for as long as you need it. If your organization is required to preserve data for a period of time, you can configure Vault to retain it even if users delete messages and files, and then empty their trash.
- Remove data when you no longer need it. If your organization is required to delete sensitive data after a period of time, you can configure Vault to remove it from user accounts.
Place holds on users to preserve their data indefinitely in order to meet legal or other retention obligations.
If a user who’s subject to a hold deletes data, it’s removed from the user’s view, but the data is preserved in Vault. As long as the hold is in place, you can search and export that data.
Search your domain’s data by user account, organizational unit, date, or keyword. Vault supports Boolean and wildcard operator searches.
Once you create a matter, you can use Vault to search for mail and classic Hangouts messages. You can also use Vault to search for:
- Files in Google Drive
- Google Groups messages
- Hangouts Chat messages
Export data for additional processing and review.
Once you’ve identified the messages or files that are pertinent to your matter, you can export them for further analysis.
Use Vault audit reports to learn about actions Vault users have taken during a specified period of time.
Vault audits provide details about actions that Vault users have taken during a specified period of time. Vault users are those people who have privileges to sign in to Vault and perform actions (for example, setting retention rules or searching in matters).
